Myth 3.
Fat is bad for weight loss

Grains are good for you.

Most of us live on a standard modern day diet which is high in carbohydrates – grains (eg bread, cereal, pasta, etc) and sugar (eg soft drinks, ice cream etc).
When we eat carbohydrates body breaks it down into various nutrients one is glucose which we use for energy.
Our bodies burn a small amount of glucose and can only store a small amount in our muscles and liver. The rest is stored as fat.
So when our bodies use this small amount of glucose we need to eat more carbohydrates for more energy…and the cycle continues.
Also it is believed we need to grains for fibre, however a diet of vegetables, meat, fish eggs, fruit, nuts, seeds, avocado & coconut products will provide ample fibre.

Exercise is good for weight loss

The idea that we exercise to reduce weight typically only applies to professional athletes who are constantly doing a massive amount of exercise and hence are burning an enormous amount of calories. But this doesn’t apply to the average person.
A better approach is to look at calories stored against calories burnt. Hence looking at the foods we eat/how we exercise and how we produce/store body fat and then use this as energy is a much better approach to reducing weight.

Fat is bad for weight loss

The idea that fat is bad for weight loss is an oversimplified idea and doesn’t consider that there are good fats and bad fats.
There are actually no scientific studies that have been able to prove that high fat diet on it’s own causes heart disease.
Eating good fats (such as butter, almonds and coconut products) from animal and plants helps you feel full and is a much better source of energy if you transform you body to fat burning rather than glucose from carbohydrates.
Research shows that eating bad fats like refined polyunsaturated vegetable and seed oils (such as canola, corn, soybean, sunflower oils) may even promote inflammation aging and cancer.
