Initially the idea of giving up grains from my diet (and also that all of most of my clients) can be quite an overwhelming thought.
As most meals of our typical modern day diet are generally focused on carbohydrate (bread, cereal, pasta, etc.)
of some sort.
Breakfast a would have been a large bowl of cereal, two slices of toast and a large glass of orange juice.
morning tea I was usually feeling quite hungry and so it was quite easy for me to put away a fruit bun, muesli bar, piece of fruit and a glass of water.
Lunchtime comes around and I was always feeling quite hungry at this point so was typically as much as I could find to fill up….2 meat and salad sandwiches, fruit juice, a piece of fruit and a small fun size chocolate.
Mid afternoon snack was usually on the run was usually a banana.
Dinner was typically meat and three veg with a bread roll and a cold beer.
This was closely followed by dessert of ice cream with a home cooked muffin.
And to top it off, for supper was often a another piece of fruit and a cup of tea.
As I said initially from me to change from this to a diet of no grains, no sugar or processed food and no processed oils was at first a massive shock!
One of the first things that come up in our coaching is “So what can I eat?”
Yes it takes a little while for our heads and bodies to adjust, but for me now
Breakfast is bacon and eggs or an omelette.
Morning tea is cup of coffee and a handful of macadamia nuts.
Lunch might be leftover vegetables and cold meat from the night before or salad and sardines in olive oil….an apple and a piece of dark 90% cocoa chocolate.
Afternoon tea is a decaffeinated organic coffee and a snack such as almond butter on carrots.
Dinner is our standard meat and three veg and a glass of red wine
and Dessert is trail mix with Greek unflavored yogurt
For the me this is a fairly typical days provides me with complete saiety to the point where even if I’m busy or are unable to have a quality meal, I can easily skip a snack or meal and not feel the slightest amount of hunger.
