Hey, guys. All I can say is… WOW. I have been out sticking with my training program that Jamie Vogele has prepared for me. And today was a functional threshold test. And to be honest guys, it is a long, long time since I have been riding at that sort of intensity.

So basically warm up, a series of high ketones, high heart rate monitor. So basically, it was a series of high ketones, high heart rate sessions. So basically it was a series of high ketones, quick spinning of the pedals and reasonably high heart rate exercise.

Back to our casual ketones and high rate again. Casual ketones, high heart rate again with a longer test at the end. Guys, it’s been years since I have done something like that.

Back in my trial form days, we had a flat section not far from where I lived, some back streets in and around New Castle, and we had to tag along with some of the high great local riders and do a bit of a training with those. I couldn’t get anywhere near those guys, but it was a pretty good session that we had all the same. But this was something else that I have done today.

The area that I preferred to ride in is all off-road on the fire trials that is close to my home. Obviously, it is not the best because we have got quite an undulating track here. There is a lot of ups, lot of downs, not huge, but in order to maintain that consistent heart rate, consistent ketones you are working through that all the time monitoring that. And also just trying to keep it all in check to make sure you are sticking to the plan.

A couple of things that I have come across, Jamie really encourages heart rate. One thing I came across Jamie really encourages sticking with the right heart rate ranges as well as the right intensity and ketones. For me haven’t got a heart rate monitor, actually got an analog watch. I don’t even have a digital watch at the moment and I don’t have a cycle computer. So a couple of things there engaging in a bit of old school, just how I am breathing when I am doing these exercises. Watching how I am spinning the pedals, if I am spinning them quickly, slowly, somewhere in between. and using that as my guide.

At this point certainly not the most accurate way to go about it. And I think I will have to improve on all those things to get the most out of the program and in order for me to progress with my training as quickly and efficiently as possible while sticking to the program.
