The other day I was scrolling on Facebook and came across a quote on a friend of mine’s page, here it is, and I hope you like it as much as I do!

We all want success, and as this quote says, to ‘live our dreams to the fullest’.

However, not sure about you, we usually find ourselves running out of time at the end of the day and every minute counts.

With goals in mind, it can be difficult to assess what are some of the goals we would actually like to complete.

It sounds like a simple question, yet it is one of the most understated questions to ask ourselves.

What are your goals? Specifically, what are your health goals?

Whether it be doing a 1-hour bike ride, a 30-minute jog or an at home exercise…keeping busy and fulfilling daily goals is important to maintain a substantial level of fitness and health, as well as staying positive and taking each day as it comes.

Sometimes, it may feel as though you have no time to keep up with fitness activities or reach all your goals, but some activities take less time than you think, even a simple walk around the workplace can suffice. It is important to maintain consistency to reach goals, but it is significantly more important to not overload ourselves with goals and activities to the point of exhaustion or worse…when it is no longer fun.

Make A Plan

An important step we can take is to plan. Planning your day is quick and simple and you can maximise tasks with minimal effort in planning.

Setting an alarm earlier in the morning may be annoying at first but the abundance of time you will have can change your health game forever. By simply waking up 30 minutes earlier than you usually do, you can set a time for a small workout and still get in that early morning coffee before work.

By making it a date and setting a time to do something, you are setting commitments, and by doing this you can ensure outcomes are met. Commitments can be hard to keep and keep track of, but the rewards and possibilities of committing to these can be endless.

If You See It, You Will Achieve It

Another important step in achieving goals is by visualising yourself achieving it. Wake up every day and imagine how you will feel at the end of the day once your goals are completed.

Let me give you a quick example…if you want to run 30 minutes around the neighbourhood and have enough time to finish that work report, imagine how you will feel once you have finished and benefit from that feeling?

Big goals can feel unobtainable and overwhelming at times, especially if they mean a few lifestyle changes, however, visualising yourself achieving it, you have a taste of what’s to come once the effort is put in.

Keep this in mind, ‘weigh now against later’ or in other words delayed gratification, is a significantly important step we can take to ensure success. By looking at where we are now to where we want to be is a great way to guarantee a much better success rate of those goals you have been thinking of.

Although, setting goals and reaching them is great, it is important that we don’t worry if we don’t reach the daily goal, every day.

It’s okay to rest and give yourself a day off. Rest and recovery are crucial to success as the roman empire wasn’t built overnight.

Success takes time and to rush yourself into a million things at once can be the exact opposite of what you have visualised. Surrounding yourself with success can also support you and help with motivation as being around people who want the same things can encourage you to dig deep and get over your own mindset of ‘can’t be bothered’ syndrome.

Accountability Is Real

Another great step to help you take action in the right direction is to create accountability in your own world. Keep yourself accountable for what you do and don’t do.

Set a list of tasks you have to complete and at the end of each day assess what you have completed and what you haven’t. This can be a great way to keep on top of tasks as well as recognising the work and effort you have already put in.

With that said, make sure the focus is on the high priority goals, the one’s that will bring you the reward you have been working towards.

Another point to mention is this…’it is crucial to reward yourself for doing such a great job, not whether you ticked all the boxes, but more if you have been focusing on the right steps each day’.

For every step in the right direction of your goals, treat yourself. Whether it be a glass of your favourite beverage at the end of the week or to watch one more episode of your favourite Netflix show, it is important to reward yourself for all the small things you achieve.

Every small step brings you that much closer to your big ass health goals, how cool is that!

While treating yourself, you are also encouraging yourself to complete your goals to get the next daily reward which acts as another motivator.
